About
A college instructor for over 12 years, I'm currently a Ph.D. student in Technical Communication and Rhetoric at Texas Tech. I'm preparing for qualifying exams in rhetoric, disability studies, technical communication, and qualitative research methods. I've taught face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses in technical and professional communication, first year composition, ESL, linguistics, and literature at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Auburn University, and Louisiana State University at Alexandria.
For my dissertation, I will examine narrative and antenarrative in inter-organizational multilogues of autism stakeholders--including research scientists, medical professionals, and non-profit advocacy groups--to excavate nuances of autism rhetoric that are often invisible to the general public. Along with the results of my rhetorical analysis, I will discuss how technical rhetoricians can support the inter-organizational communication practices of autism stakeholders.
I would like to synthesize my knowledge and experience by designing technology and service programs that increase the accessibility of technology and services in the workplace and higher education and by teaching rhetoric as a practice of knowledge-making, community building, and personal agency.
